Hi,
Words often escape me, so I speak through images, sounds, and gestures through art. Expression is a struggle, but it’s also my joy, my language. I create with one eye on the future and a quiet urge to rewrite the past. Local realities and social tensions are woven into my work; they are the soil I grew from, and they continue to shape what I create.
I move through places and feelings, always searching. Relationships aren’t easy for me, and I carry emotional scars from growing up in a post-war world. Still, I find beauty in things that are strange or exaggerated—kitsch has a special place in my heart.
Saint Petersburg cradled my childhood, holding the first images that shaped me. I spent most of my life in Baku, Azerbaijan, where I tried to make sense of the world through local, socially engaged projects. Now I live in Vilnius, Lithuania, pursuing a master’s in Photography and Media Art at the Vilnius Academy of Arts.
You’ll find me—always—within the layers of my work.
warm loves,
Malak .🧚♂️
